Monday Luncheon

Woke up to a rainy day washing away my blossoms! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today’s Monday lunch is at Sagato. Sagato Bakery and Cafรฉ is a bakery inspired by the foods of New Zealand, Australia and the Polynesianย region of the Pacific.

Mom and I tried the pies. I had the Chicken, had to pick out all the chicken, and mom had the meat pie. Very delicious. Very buttery ๐Ÿ™‚ I will definitely be back, but not very often due to the high calorie count, but I will be back!

Aaron got the fish and chips. The fish was red snapper. Very good as well! I told Paul that we will have to come here for our Friday family night this week. But, bring the fry sauce! I guess New Zealand doesn’t do sauce. Normally I’m taking fries from Aaron, but this time he was begging me to have a fry, and I just couldn’t do it. Can’t have the fries, without the sauce!

For dessert, this Koko Samoa Bundt Cake came home with me. They had soooo many treats to choose from it was difficult to choose just one. It was good, but not my favorite. I should have taken pictures of what Mom chose. It was a chocolate croissant of some sort. I had a taste of that one and it was really good. When we go back on Friday, I will have to try out another dessert.

After lunch Aaron came with us to not only one TJMaxx, but two! He must have been working from home for the last year and needed to get out! Ha!

But, it’s always fun with him, even though he was quite nervous in my electric car. ๐Ÿ™‚ He was watching the number of miles I had, worried that 100 miles wouldn’t get us home ๐Ÿ™‚ He asked me to turn off the heater to save an additional 35 miles!

Never a dull moment on Mondays!

Eli’s 6th Anniversary

Six years ago today, we were sealed as a family.

And this is today!

Paul trying to get Eli to smile properly. He is in this weird smile phase.

There we go! Now if we can get the daffodils to be lively ๐Ÿ™‚ We missed bulb season by 2 weeks. Next year we will have to take pictures at the temple a few weeks early ๐Ÿ™‚

It was VERY busy at the temple today. There were two weddings, one at each end of the temple so we couldn’t get many pictures.

It was also VERY bright ๐Ÿ™‚

We couldn’t open our eyes and look at the camera for long. One, two, three…and we opened our eyes. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hoping to get a picture of all three of us and the temple in the background. This will have to do!

We ate lunch at the temple.

We picked up dessert from Avenue Bakery. Eli picked the cannoli.

I picked the cheesecake. Paul, I didn’t get a picture of him…he but he got a jelly filled donut. ๐Ÿ™‚

He opened a few gifts and loved all of them, until….

We got home and he saw his new bike. He LOVED the bike! Eli, said it was, “the best anniversary ever!”

It’s been 6 years since he came to our family, and I still cry at the temple every year. We are so blessed to have Eli in our family.

Field Trip

Every day for the last week Eli has been asking Alexa, “Alexa, how many days till April 20th?” And today finally came!

Look at that face! He was so excited to go to the farm, and ride the bus!

How did Eli get the goose egg on his forehead?

The night before he was playing with his monster truck that had a pointy end. Every night Eli would put this truck on the head board of his bed. Paul kept telling him it was going to fall and moved it every night. Well, tonight he didn’t move it and it fell on him. Eli wanted to see what it looked like… ๐Ÿ™‚

We went to the farm at Thanksgiving Point. I didn’t know they had a farm ๐Ÿ™‚ The last time I was here, I ran the Thanksgiving point 1/2 marathon and haven’t been back since, so this was fun.

We were in charge of these 4. They were so cute!

Two stressed out people trying to watch four 6 year olds. ๐Ÿ™‚ It was fun and I’m glad we volunteered, but I sure was glad it was for only 1.5 hours. That was enough! I have a lot of respect for his Kindergarten teachers!

Eli loved the farm, but I think he really liked being with his friends. He is my social butterfly.

See! He is only 6 and socializing with the girls. ๐Ÿ™‚ He actually thought this little girl was cute since the first day of school. So when he found out she was in our group, he was extremely excited.

This little boy was a sweet one as well. He was by Eli’s side the whole time.

The four of them LOVED the carriage ride. We had to ride it twice.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to come with Eli on his field trip. It was fun meeting all his friends. I’m looking forward to many more field trips.

Yellow Pine Trail

Hiking season has started! Our first hike of the year is Yellow Pine Trail off the Mirror Lake Highway.

Paul stopped to take a picture and a butterfly landed on his hand. ๐Ÿ™‚

Paul and Eli found snow to throw at each other. One snowball got away!

Trying out Paul’s new GPS. This GPS allows us to send text messages with our location, so if there is ever a problem we can get help and it will send a picture of a map with our exact location. We sent a few test texts to Paul’s father to try it out. This will be a fun tool this summer when we do some backpacking.

A mile up and I gained a 60lb passenger! ๐Ÿ™‚ Not too much further, we stopped at a stream and turned around.

Back at the bottom of the trail, we jumped into the truck and drove further up the road so Paul and Eli could do a little fishing.

On the way home we stopped for lunch. This sounds crazy, but we like to stop at the Kamas food town for lunch. We love the cheesy potato bites in the deli. Not too special, but they are fantastic. Eli gets the mac n’ cheese of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

It was nice to be back in the mountains, but the drive was a bit much for a day trip. The next time we come out this way, we need to do some camping, backpacking, OR purchase a house closer to the canyon, Ha!!

Monday Luncheon

Today’s lunch we went to American Fork and tried Avenue Bakery.

I had the brie cheese sandwich. I didn’t get the veggie because I’m not a fan of mushrooms. The employee said the veggie is her favorite out of the entire menu and I should have tried it.

I didn’t care for brie sandwich. Aaron was so sweet, he gave me half of his panini and his was REALLY good, minus the chicken ๐Ÿ™‚ I will definitely be back to try the veggie panini.

I will also be back to try this! Looks tasty, right? Raspberry cheesecake. We skipped this because we had plans to go to….

Blox. Dessert Bars. This place was good, and I would return.

Starting from the top. The guy said the pistachio cream cheese cookie was good seller and everyone keeps asking for them. Not sure why ๐Ÿ™‚ we didn’t care for it. It was good, but not that good.

The peanut butter chocolate cookie was my runner up. It was good and I would go back for another one. Reminded me of the prison’s, Serving Time Cafe’s bar.

The rice crispy bar. I didn’t try it. Mom and Aaron said it was REALLY good and it was one of their top choices.

The chocolate brownie was all of our favorites. But, it definitely needs ice cream. I would go back for this one, take it home and put some homemade ice cream on it.

We stopped off at Best Buy to help Cindy find a laptop. I ran into this. Microsoft Surface Duo. I need it! It is a foldable phone/ tablet. It folds up and you can put it into your pocket! Your pocket! I sent Paul a picture of this. Mothers Day is coming up… ๐Ÿ™‚

Always look forward to Monday to go to lunch!

Spring Break

Eli had a week off for spring break. We did everything. We went hiking, fishing, bike riding, played at the park…it was non stop.

He went running with me in the mornings.

He’s my little coxswain. He would ride his scooter as fast as he could and encourage me to run. “Faster mommy, faster!” My speed increases when I’m with him.

He has great theatrics. This is what he does after he reaches the top of the hills.

His energy returns we get to the park!

Learning how to skateboard.

In honor of spring break, Eli wanted to take pictures of the spring flowers. I thought that was appropriate. This is what he took.

See his shoes ๐Ÿ™‚

Every picture! He is such a cute boy, he makes me laugh.

The Easter bunny gave Eli a new switch game, Animal Crossings. This game is kind of fun, and addicting. What is fun is our characters are just like us. Paul and I walk around logs and make a relatively straight line to where we need to go. Eli takes the long way, and runs around and around, and over logs, sits on logs, jumps over logs… it’s been quite fun to watch him play.

Another thing that is fun, is watching Eli decorate his tent. His tent looks just like a 6 year old tent. He needed to display all his fish he caught.

No room for his bed so it went outside. Of course.

This was just the beginning of his fish collection! We spent a lot of hours playing.

We took a day and went to Crystal Hot Springs. Sadly, no pictures. The day we went was snowy and cold. Perfect to sit in hot pools! After several hours in the water, we went to Maddox for dinner. My usual is the salmon with about 30 rolls and cornpones. Too full for dessert, a coconut cream pie always goes home with us.

It was a fun spring break!

Monday Luncheon

We drove up to to Park City for todays lunch.

We went to Wasatch Bagel Cafe. They were supposed to have the best bagels in Park City.

Little Pea was on Spring break and off school for the week, so I was pretty excited for him to join us! You can’t go wrong with an egg and cheese bagel sandwich.

We haven’t been to downtown Park City in a few years so we stopped and walked the streets.

Creative outdoor seating. They had heaters in each of these balls.

Drove a few miles to Deer Valley. With the lack of snow this year, I didn’t think the ski resorts would have a enough slow, but we saw a few skiers out there.

For our dessert, we went to the Windy Ridge Bakery.

Everything looked tasty. The employee said the pumpkin ginger heart cookies were the best out of all the desserts.

So we tried two cookies. The chocolate star was a chocolate graham cracker with icing in the middle. The ginger heart cookie was definitely the best one! Soft with creamy icing in the middle. I would definitely come back for these!

They had some delicious looking fruit tarts as well. I was so full from lunch I wasn’t hungry enough to eat one. So when I come back for another ginger cookie, I will try one.

We drove back to Park City and played on the play ground. Eli needed to get his wiggles out for the trip home.

One detour we had to take. We’re looking for some property, so we had to look at the outrageous prices of land. We knew everything would be over priced, bu we had to see what was out here. We found this .24 acres for $1.4 million. Crazy.

Another fun Monday lunch!

Happy Easter!

Eli arranges the bunnies almost every day! Today he was pretty creative by having them sit on the Easter sign ๐Ÿ™‚

While the eggs were boiling, we made some bunny cars. We glued the wheels on with the frosting from inside the twinkies. Eli LOVED eating the glue!

I must be the worst mom ever, because this is the first time Eli has had a marshmallow bunny. He couldn’t believe all the sugar that was covering the marshmallow. Neither could I! ๐Ÿ™‚

Eli was waiting ALL week for this. And now the time came!

We started writing secret messages on the eggs to each other. I used the classic white crayon and dyed the egg.

Eli used red. I love his message. He also has wonderful handwriting!

The next day the Easter bunny came!

Copying the pictures over to put on the blog, I came across this video. This is what Eli made. It was a fun to see a little bit into Eli’s world and what he is thinking ๐Ÿ™‚

Paul made our usual Sunday breakfast. Dutch apple pancakes.

It was a fun and enjoyable weekend.

Deciduous

What does a Kindergartener learn at school??

Deciduous.

Eli asked me if I knew what kind of tree that was, and I told him it was a pear tree. He then told me it was a deciduous tree.

What? This is what they are teaching Kindergartners? What will he be taught in first grade?
