My little pea is in kindergarten! I’m so excited for him.
I’m going to miss him during the day, but he is going to a fantastic school and I know he is in loving hands. The teachers are great and they see what each child needs. They ordered 1st grade curriculum for him and will continue to work with him at the level he needs.
Went for a run. Worked on speed today and really pushed myself. It sure was different to just…run. No little coxswain to tell me, “run faster, mommy.” “It’s boring when you run slow.” 🙂
It’s Monday, so we went to the prison for lunch.
They all asked where my son was. I guess we go here a lot 🙂
See that empty chair. That is little pea’s chair. We tried to take a sad picture, but it looked terrible, so smiles it is. But we were really sad he wasn’t there!
I had to eat my egg and cheese bagel by myself.
After lunch we went to schmidt’s bakery for a treat. They have the best chocolate mint filled cookies.
My laptop died this morning so that evening my computer guys tried to fix it. So far it’s not looking good.
Thank you for fixing my video on my blog! 🙂 Even though blog work isn’t very fun for him, I appreciate all he does. I really love his guy.
We love visiting Colorado. The temperature is 10′ cooler and it’s so green.
We stopped off at the Colorado Temple.
Eli had so much fun with Rin.
Gage taught him how to play video games. Again, I guess I have deprived my son….
We played with their cute puppy. Eli now wants another dog.
Too old for pictures.
They have a park across the street from their house. Eli thought it was the coolest thing to open the front door to a park!
He loved these springy things.
One day we ate lunch at Garbanzo. If you want a great tasting falafel, come here. I enjoyed my wrap. Next time I will skip the hummus. I like hummus, but it over powered the falafel. Excellent lunch.
I thought I had a picture of Court and the whole family hanging out on the couch. I can’t seem to find it. But it was enjoyable to be with Ferelyn and her family.
We always have to stop here for donuts.
These long john donuts are to Colorado as a warm croissant is to Paris. If you pass through you must experience one.
They are filled with white fluff, or we call it, icing. 🙂 So tasty. This is why I ran 13.1 miles! So I can eat one of these for breakfast EVERY morning.
Our last day we at breakfast at Snooze. I thought it was going to be another breakfast/ Ihop place…
This was most delicious breakfast I have had. They don’t have cooks in the back, they have chefs. Everything had great flavor. Even Eli’s pancake.
I ordered the Smashed Avocado Benny. When I run the race next year, we are coming back to this restaurant!
We always enjoy coming out for a visit. Thank you for letting us stay with you for a few days!
Since we drove all this way for the marathon, we decided to stay for a few days.
But first, I need to document our drive up. We drove the Wyoming route and stopped in Little America for clean bathrooms.
I’m always impressed when we pass through here. The door handle of the individual stalls in the bathroom.
Ceiling light in our bathroom stall 🙂 With crown molding. You don’t get this at a gas station bathroom.
Eli was so wonderful during this trip!
We saw a double rainbow.
We stopped off for ice cream.
We stopped off at the park.
Eli experienced his first kids meal. I know, I’m an awful parent to not let him experience this earlier. He has experienced “Kids” meals at our stores, be he said it’s not the same. 🙂
Third marathon of the year. The Georgetown to Idaho Spring marathon in Colorado.
When I signed up for this race, my sister said it was just like the Heber half. A fast race down hill in a beautiful canyon. Fantastic! I will do it. I need another 7 miles of easy running to help me get to the finish line 🙂
Again, it was an early start. We needed to get to the bus by 6am so they can get us up to the starting line by 7am. This race had a late start of 8am.
It’s an hour drive from my sisters house to the buses to bus us to to the starting line, so I arrived at her house at 4am. Look at the bunnies! Apparently, they are everywhere! I think they are cute, Ferelyn thinks they are annoying because they leave droppings and eat everything.
At the starting line.
This race was a beautiful race. It started at a lake and ran past an old mine.
I wore a running jacket because it was cold out, with a short sleeved shirt. I want to do this marathon again, so next time, I will drop my jacket and run in a short sleeved shirt at the start.
So this was NOTHING like the Heber half. First difference: The first 2 miles were UP HILL! I was dying. as you can see above.
Lots of entertainment during this race.
The river was beautiful.
Ferelyn: ” want a picture by the river?”
Me: “Yeah, I could use a break…er… I mean, yes, let’s take a picture :)”
I was dying! This race had more hills to run up than down. And we were supposedly dropping in elevation every mile we ran.
The lady on the right had to be in her 70’s and I couldn’t keep up with her! I had to print this picture and hang it in my kitchen as a reminder to get stronger!!!
Brutal.
Another band. I found out the high school seniors need 40 hours of volunteer hours to graduate. Apparently, this counts as their hours. They were enjoyable to listen to.
This the old mine. Georgetown and Idaho Springs are old mining towns.
We made it. Ferelyn couldn’t get a picture of us at the finish line. I needed food! I was already in line for my bagel and chocolate milks. Yes, I had several chocolate milks.
This race was very challenging for me. I want to run it again next year and I will be ready for it!
Brutal run. This next marathon is going to kill me.
We drive to moms house to pick up mom and Aaron and head out for lunch. We go to the prison 🙂 a lot. Every once in a while we try something new. Today we went to Hires Big H. They have one of the best veggie burgers in the valley.
After lunch we go out and find a new dessert place to try. Today we tried Cinnaholic gourmet cinnamon rolls.
We tried the cookie monster. It was a warm cinnamon roll, with vanilla icing, topped with cookie dough crumbles and drizzled with chocolate.
Look at Eli’s face. It was delicious! This is one of the best desserts we have had. I will definitely be back.
On our drive back, it hit 104′
After lunch we head outside to play. Either playing in water or the sandbox. Since it was over 100′, Eli chose to play in the water.
Well, the second marathon has arrived. Ferelyn and her kids came out for the race.
We arrived at the buses at 4:00am. It started to rain 🙂
We made it to the start line at 5:00am. We grabbed space blankets and tried to keep warm. It poured rain for about 1/2 hour.
In our rain gear ready to go! We couldn’t decide if we should drop our rain coats or not. The clouds were looking like it wanted to rain again so we made the decision to run with them on. I also ran in a long sleeve shirt because of the cold.
I’m definitely going to run this next year. It was so cold up top, I will bring my rain jacket and drop it before the race starts. I will also run in a short sleeved shirt as well. Just like the Heber half, it got hot after leaving the canyon.
It was a very beautiful race. Not as steep as the Heber half.
Ferelyn running backward trying to keep me running. She is a strong runner. I strive to be her while I train.
Fun trail.
At the finish line!
I finished 2:19. Again, the 7 miles of hills helped my time.
It was a fabulous race and I will be doing it next year. I just hope Ferelyn runs next year with me. I think that was why it was so fun.
